This covers BC Highway 37a from Meziadin Junction to Stewart and Hyder
These photos are from my visit in June 2007. My previous visit was in 1974.
From Meziadin Lake -- beside BC's Highway 37 -- to Stewart and Hyder is about 70 km. That is less than 50 miles.
This small patch of territory contains some of the most accessible and spectacular scenery available anywhere. Is there any other place where one can drive so easily and so close to such spectacular glaciers and mountains?

Hyder Alaska has less than a hundred residents and is about three miles down the Portland Canal from Stewart. A short distance north is the spectacular Salmon River Glacier. The road is only open a few weeks in late summer. The approach road was snowed up in June and that glacier visit will have to wait for another year.
