I visited "Chicagoland" for a week in mid December 1996. I drove through in early September 2008.
This page shows a brief snapshot of my visit impressions.

I spent most of my time in the suburbs of Downer's Grove and Oak Brook. I also visited the central Loop and North Michigan Avenue area on the last Saturday before Christmas. I took photos of La Salle Street looking towards the Chicago Board of Trade. La Salle Street
I walked by the 110 story Sears Tower. It was the world's tallest office building. Sears Tower
Marshall Fields The department stores -- Marshall Fields and Scott Pirie -- were well decorated. Scott Pirie
Wright Studio On my last morning I made a brief visit to Oak Park. It was an interesting look at the best and worst of American architecture. The home and studio of Frank Lloyd Wright was surrounded by some excellent examples of early 20th century house architecture. Wright sign
Dennys restaurant Just two blocks away one can also view classic examples of an ubiquitous and boring American Denny's and Mobil Oil gas station. Surely Mr. Wright's legacy deserves better treatment.
(Here are some view's of a Lloyd Wright gas station).

Here are two late winter pictures from downtown Chicago...
(Yes, I know that this page needs better organization).

Milwaukee Clipper on Chicago River Water Tower in downtown Chicago

Looking back at it, I wish I could get a Chicago apartment. I would love more than anything to live right in the middle of Downtown Chicago!
