Village of Dome CreekBritish Columbia (BC), CanadaA personal view by Gregory Melle
|
| Dome Creek is a tiny spot on the map about 90 minutes drive east of Prince George, BC. Bend is an even smaller speck just across the Fraser River. | |
|---|---|
In early summer 1971 I discovered the attractions of British Columbia's North. My most recent visit was in the summer of 2002. By then Dome Creek was down to less than 50 people.

While the population is sparse, the land and weather have power and presence.
| |
| Dome Creek is a creation of the CN Railway. |
|---|
At one time there was a small sawmill and a track maintenance crew every five or ten miles along the track.
Dome Creek had stores, churches and employment. Now there are only a couple railway jobs,
a few jobs at the Slim Creek highway maintenance station and a little tree planting and logging.
