born in Ireland. Anglican.
William's first wife was Mary Sarah Armstrong.
His second wife, my ancestor, was Jane Hales.
His father was Arthur McCoy.
His mother was Mary Whitton.
William's brother was Joseph McCoy. His sisters were Lucinda and Mary.
September 1830, joined the 83rd County of Dublin Regiment "Fitch's Grenadiers." By 1837 he was the "Coloured Sgt." He served during the Upper Canada Rebellion.
His lived in Halifax, Nova Scotia (1837). Later in Ontario he resided or farmed in Kingston (1839), Gananoque (1840), Prescott (1841), Camden East (1841 - 1857) and East Wawanosh (1872 - 1881). He farmed in Manitou, Manitoba (1881 - 1896) where he died.
