Max was born in Hamburg, Germany.
He is listed in the passenger list of the passenger ship St. Louis that arrived in New York on Mar 01, 1906 from Southampton. It shows the name as Max Ephraim and the occupation as Engineer.
From there, he travelled to Winnipeg, Canada on the CPR.
By 1907 he was working as a Foot Surgeon in Montreal.
He was naturalized as a Canadian Citizen in 1921.
Later he also a small-scale manufacturer of odour and bug repellents.
He died in Montreal and was cremated and buried there.
