Montreal city combines a mix of big city North America with natural scenery and French history.

I have some family history in Montreal, I visited for Expo 67 and I worked there in 1972 and 1976.
During that long last visit I visited some preliminary Olympic Events in the Olympic Stadium.
(My fondest Montreal Olympics memory was watching Nadia Comaneci get her perfect 10 in Gymnastics. That was on television, so of course I could have watched it anywhere in the world).

In 1972 Montréal was still hosting an annual summer fair at the site of the Expo 67. My friend Terri was working as a guide. We managed to watch one of the early 1972 Summit Series hockey games in the office of the Soviet Pavilion.

My work in Montreal during both stays was at the biggest hotel in Canada. They ran the restaurants in Place Ville Marie where I worked in 1976.
From the Place Ville Marie tower there was a good view of both the outdoor restaurant where I worked and the green dome of Marie-Reine-du-Monde Cathedral.

The city of Montreal is known as the second largest French-speaking city in the world... but, on the island of Montreal, native French speakers are barely in the majority.
Here is some more local scenery.
