Montreal (Montréal), Quebec, CanadaIncluding 1976 Olympics and city picturesA personal travel view
|
| Montreal city combines a mix of big city North America with natural scenery and French history. | |
|---|---|
I have some family history in Montreal, I visited for Expo 67 and I worked there in 1972 and 1976.
| |
In 1972 Montréal was still hosting an annual summer fair at the site of the Expo 67. My friend Terri was working as a guide. We managed to watch one of the early 1972 Summit Series hockey games in the office of the Soviet Pavilion.
| |
My work in Montreal during both stays was at the biggest hotel in Canada.
They ran the restaurants in Place Ville Marie where I worked in 1976.
| |
The city of Montreal is known as the second largest French-speaking city in the world...
but, on the island of Montreal, native French speakers are barely in the majority.
