This section refers to my travels from Beijing to Moscow on the Manchurian route. I left Beijing on April 1, 2000.
This was a six night trip. After some initial difficulties with my fellow travelers I switched to better accommodation. I met some great people among my fellow travelers and the train staff. The first photo shows a married couple who work as custom agents on the Chinese border. The second photo shows another married couple -- Olga and Igor -- who took care of us on the trip.

Much of the scenery and weather made me think of Western Canada in the spring. Temperatures were rarely below freezing and things where definitely warmer and sunnier in the East.

The restaurant car was a joke, but the local people offered a wide variety of food and drink for sale on the platforms.
