Lombok Island, Indonesia 1975

In 1975, I arrived in Lombok as a crew member on a yacht.
I always thought that we stopped at a place called Silungblanak or Siloengblanak on the south coast of Lombok But after a lot of squinting at Google Earth and Lombok maps I think that we must have been in Blongas Bay around the corner from what is now known as Kuta Lombok. (Good thing that I was not navigating). We spent several days there unsuccessfully waiting for the monsoon winds to change.

This is unfortunately my only photo of the Sundowner.
At one point we tried to go overland to Mataram. Instead of finding the paved road that we were expecting, we could only find a slippery trail over the mountains. We gave up and returned to the yacht in defeat to the yacht. It was a successful day for photos though.
