Vancouver and False Creek before Expo 86

Vancouver hosted a special Transportation themed World's Fair in 1986. These are pictures of the site under construction. This was an industrial area along the shore of False Creek. I was the future Pacific Bloulevard / Concord Pacific residentail area.

I walked by the site of the BC Pavilion in 1985. This was just after the closure of the last sawmill on False Creek. I found a cache of old bottles sticking out of the mud and gravel.

Vancouver was 100 years old on April 6, 1986. On that same day I saw workers hoisting centennial banners on the sides of the Burrard Street Bridge.

I took these two pictures in the spring of 1986 from the Cambie Street Bridge. Expo was almost ready to open.
