This year has had one big piece of news. I completed my round-the-world trip in May. I updated my Trip 2000 as I went along. It has over 150 photos!

So now I am in the Vancouver area, now well-rested and planning my next move.

I found it particularly difficult to find a job this spring. It took me two months to finally jump start an employer into action. Are they simply skittish after the recent stock market crash or does my physical presence in Canada making them nervous?

My newest position is just eight miles north of my last job. I will be working at the NUMMI plant in Fremont, California. There is only a three month guarantee but the software opportunity is excellent and the pay is decent. I have looked for accommodation on the web though and it is even more outrageous than when I last looked. I will be starting on July 11 if all goes well but the American INS is being particularly bureaucratic.

While waiting for a good job to bite my leg I made a one week drive through British Columbia to Alberta. The mountain scenery made me ponder the insanity of rushing around the world when some of the best scenery is found here in Western Canada.

The first picture is of Mount Rundle and the second is Castle Mountain. Both are close to Banff, Alberta.

On sunny summer days in Vancouver I am vulnerable to any good offer. The beaches temp and a smart local employer could sweet talk me into anything. I have been refraining from new photos. I guess that Vancouver beauty is getting ordinary or perhaps I simply need that telephoto lens that I keep talking about. There has been very little fine weather.

In mid June I went to northern Idaho for job interview. The only photo I took was of the Bates Motel in Coeur d'Alene and 'Norman's Special'. The country was nice, the job looked great and the society seemed okay (though a bit homogeneous for my liking). That employer took a very long time to finally say "no".

On July 1, I took a stroll on along Crescent Beach. That is one of my favourite Vancouver area locations. There was a wedding in progress and this is my photo of it.
