In early June I made a short trip to Vallejo and Benecia to view the mothball fleet of old ships. I still have not found the right combination of location and time of day to get the great photo hidden here. I did make a few pictures looking across at the old Mare Island naval yards.
I have done some major web page re-formatting in an effort to get more referrals from web search engines.
On the Memorial Day weekend I made a brief stroll through Niles. This is a small early town site that got swallowed up by Fremont. It is the site of the early Essenay Studios where Charlie Chaplin did his first movies. The town itself is not much but I did enjoy capturing some typical California hillside scenery.

In mid-May I made a quick weekend trip into the Northern California
mountains.
I stopped in Red Bluff to check out some antique stores and to snap this
shot in front of the county courthouse.
I spent the night in Susanville -- which is North West of Reno.
In the morning I continued my trip around Mt. Lassen.
The good camera that I bought last year really comes in handy when the
going gets tough. The nice lake scene in the first photo can be zoomed
into a mountain scene with good equipment and software.
I continued down the North Branch of the Feather River towards Sacramento. This route is also followed by the Union Pacific Railway. I stopped to take pictures of the rocks, trees and trains but I was really fascinated by the interlocking railway and highway bridges.

In April, Ashley flew off to Europe. I attended the departure and took some family photos as shown below. I would like provide more details but am cautious about what information I reveal on what is still a quite public Internet. (If any of my family or friends wants to put their own stories on-line I would be happy to oblige).

Upon my return to San Francisco area I took this photo from the plane
window. The Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco is in the foreground. The
Trans-Bay Bridge and Oakland are seen further back.
(There is a deep moral dilemma here. Am I endangering passenger lives and
breaking federal laws by taking an electronic digital photo during
landing? Surely modern navigation does not operate so close to the edge?)
