During the last few weeks I have kept my head down working close to home. I still have not perfected taking digital pictures in Vancouver cloudy weather. The light is good for close-ups and nearby scenery but landscapes tend to get washed out in the horizon mists. I did manage a few photos suitable for prime time... the first was taken standing in the street in front of my apartment. The Canadian flag looks impressive when the light is highlights it.

I have biked down to Stanley Park and Granville Island a few times. The bicycle is still an excellent way to explore this city. The car parking situation has gotten a lot more difficult and expensive since the last time that I lived here. There has been an amazing boom in new construction. Yaletown and Coal Harbour are now not only packed with high rise apartment buildings, new hotels and stores but some fine new parks and seaside walkways have been added.

In the harbour one notices a wide variety of ships and boats.

Some pictures of Vancouver have changed rapidly, but Kits Beach changed little in twenty years. The big changes are the paid parking and some more volleyball courts.

One of the most spectacular things in Vancouver remains the view from Spanish Banks when the tide is out. You can walk a mile from shore. The ships appear to be stuck at the end of the sand. Use caution though. The tide comes in fast.
