What Was New: Early July, 2002Vancouver, West End, False Creek, Gastown weddings, dogwood trees(Gregory Melle's Web Diary / Blog)

Vancouver is famous for its flowering trees and shrubs. I discovered a massive display of flowering Dogwood trees along Charles Street near Slocan Street. Some East Vancouver suburbs are surprisingly fine. The tourists crowd other parts of town but that does not reduce the appealing scenery in other areas. Dogwoods are the official BC flower. They are featured on the provincial coat of arms.

I spent a pleasant evening with old and new friends on an East Hastings Street rooftop. These pictures look West to downtown. Then North across the harbour and finally East to the new Metrotown complex.
On the first Saturday in July I saw several wedding parties posing as I wandered the streets of downtown Vancouver. This group was having a lot of fun being photogenic before the Steam Clock in Gastown.
