July turned into a great month. I finally picked up my new car and went for a 4500 kilometre drive. I headed north through territory that has been often visited by me. It would be nice if my friends would all move to Vancouver. While I am waiting though, I will have to continue making long range trips to keep in touch with both them and western scenery.

These first few pictures were taken from the side of Highway 99 in BC's Cariboo country.

I took the northern route through Prince George and the Hart Highway. This is spruce, fir and poplar country as seen by this view of three Prince George pulp mills and some trees north of Tumbler Ridge.

I was driving my new Hyundai Elantra GT. Here is a photo close to where the Alaskan Highway crosses the Peace River. Then I show a couple of farm pictures near the Peace River between Fort St. John and Hudson's Hope.

A major theme of this trip was falling water. I diverted to the immense WAC Bennett Dam. Due to heavy rain this past spring they had the overflow spillway open for only the second time ever. It made for a spectacular show.

I spent a few nights near Whitecourt, Alberta. The July sunsets were spectacular as always. I refrain from posting pictures of friends and kids. But I can't resist this one of me, Big T and Little Jackie.

Wild animals crowded onto the highway 16 near Jasper. (Normally there is much more wildlife there than on the Banff Park route). Here are Mountain Goats shedding hair and a great grazing Elk.

To continue the falling water theme... here is Helmcken Falls in Wells Gray Park along with a few close-ups. These 142 metre falls are three times higher than mighty Niagara.

I took the back highway through Pavilion, Lillooet, Pemberton and Whistler. There are some lovely scenic canyon pictures of the Fraser River between Pavilion and Lillooet.

My final waterfall of this trip was the 60 metre high Nairn Falls north of Whistler. Green River surges in several boiling drops. One can easily approach within touching distance.
