What Was New: January 03, 2000San Francisco, Burnaby, Vancouver, Mount Shasta, Milpitas(Gregory Melle's Web Diary / Blog)

I drove to Vancouver, Canada for the holiday season. While it was a long drive, I was lucky with the weather and road conditions on the drive north. Except for a few cloudy periods it was sunny and clear all the way from San Jose to Vancouver. Mt. Shasta in Northern California looked great. (This shows a view from the west and another look from the north.
I stopped in Portland, Oregon for a few hours. It looked like a nice city for visiting or working. I caught a good view of Mt. Hood.
I arrived in Vancouver amid some very thick fog. It is was still lingering in this Burnaby Metrotown scene from my nephew's office.
My nieces Shiloe and Vanessa were both visiting and looking forward to brighter futures.
New Years Eve was a quiet event. I got up early for the long drive south. From Seattle I took a cut over to the coastal Hwy 101 route. This avoided the mountain passes but I found some intense rain storms. The scenery was great though and the dramatic clouds made for some great photos. The first few photos were taken in Washington State just across from Astoria, Oregon.

I spent the night in Lincoln City, Oregon and made it to California before dark. I used the camera's timer to make a self-portrait... Have a great New Century!
